Habitats: Chalk downland.
Habits:
Foodplant: The larva forms a fine gallery leading to the petiole and into a stem of Selfheal. It then forms a very long gallery mine in another leaf often following the midrib or the leaf margin. The mine then widens at the end into an irregular, purple, elongate blotch. The larva pupates in a cocoon in the leaf litter or on the upperside of a Selfheal leaf.
