Similar species:

Forewing: 8 to 10mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, marshes and fens.

Habits: The moth flies in sunshine, sometimes in a swirling swarm in the early morning. It also flies at dusk.

Foodplant: The early instar foodplants are not recorded. The larva later feeds on dead leaves on the ground from a flat case made from leaf fragments. It pupates in the case on the ground.
