Similar species:

Forewing: 7 to 10mm

Habitats: Mountain glens with woodland or scrub.

Habits: The moth rests on tree trunks in the day and flies around birches at sunset.

Foodplant: The larvae feed within the bracket fungus known as Tinder Fungus Fomes fomentarius (in association with the tenebrionid beetle known as the Black Tinder Fungus Beetle Bolitophagus reticulatus). It also feeds on Birch Polypore Fomitopsis betulina.
