Habitats: Deciduous woodland, woodland margins, orchards, gardens and hedgerows.
Habits: The moth flies in the evening and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva forms a short contorted gallery mine along the midrib and side vein of Hawthorn, pears, whitebeams and apples which sometimes ends in a short right-angled turn. It later feeds externally eating out windows from above. The larva pupates in an off-white corrugated cocoon attached to debris.
