Habitats: Deciduous woodland, woodland margins, hedgerows with trees.
Habits: It flies around the foodplant during the day, but has not been recorded in Britain since the 1950's.
Foodplant: The larva forms black-centred blotch on the upper surface of an Aspen leaf. There are sometimes several larvae to a leaf. On the European mainland it is recorded on a wide range of poplars and sallows. It pupates in a cocoon under a silk web on the upper surface of a leaf.
