Similar species:

Forewing: 10.5 to 7mm

Habitats: Heathland, downland, wasteland, dry grassland, embankments and coastal cliffs.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in spun shoots (which later turn brown) of Gorse, Broom and Dyer's Greenweed. It has also been found in withered gorse flowers. It pupates in a cocoon in the larval spun shoot.
