35.074 Club-rush Miner Monochroa moyses Uffen, 1991

Notable A

Similar species:

Forewing: 4 to 4.5mm

Habitats: Coastal brackish ponds and ditches, the margins of salt-marshes.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva makes a long, full depth gallery mine up a stem of Sea Club-rush. The start of the mine is lined with silk. It starts off narrow but becomes broad (up to 25mm). It sometimes makes a second mine in the same leaf. The full-fed larva overwinters, but in the spring may pupate in their mines or in the leaf litter.
