Habitats: Deciduous woodland margins, scrub, hedgerows and other sites where the foodplant is present, but mainly coastal.
Habits:
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Blackthorn. It at first makes a short mine, then cuts a small, subrectangular case at 90° angle. The final case is cut from the leaf margin and is broad, 7 to 8mm long, m.o. at a 45° angle. The larva overwinters half-fed. It pupates on the upper surface of a leaf.
