Habitats: Downland, verges, embankments, disused quarries and wasteland.
Habits: The moth is diurnal and flies in sunshine. It only rarely comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva bores through the florets and feeds on the unripe seeds of Red Clover. In the fourth instar it uses a browned clover floret to form a case. The final case is 6mm long and rufous-brown. It pupates either in the seed-head or on the ground.
