Habitats: The last site was in open Beech woodland rides on calcareous soil.
Habits: The moth flies from late afternoon (4pm) and through the evening. It has not been recorded in Britain since c1930 at Nettlebed, Oxfordshire.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the seeds of Hairy Wood-rush. The case is formed from a floret with an inner cylinder of whitish-grey silk. The silk is visible at the anal end, giving the case a silk tip. The trivalved case is 4 to 4.5mm long. The full-fed larva overwinters in the leaf litter. It also pupates in the leaf litter or on the lower part of a trunk in a sunny position.
