Similar species:

Forewing: 8 to 12mm

Habitats: Woodland rides and margins, hedgerows, scrub and downland.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The young larva bores into a soft stem of Dog-rose and overwinters in a bud. In the spring it spins a leaf and a bud together, from where it feeds on the fresh shoots and flower-buds. It pupates under silk on the foodplant, near to where it has been feeding.
