Habitats: Woodland and dry grassland.

Habits: The moth occasionally rests on the foodplant during the day. It flies from dusk and occasionally comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the leaves of Greater Burdock or Lesser Burdock. After overwintering the small gregarious larva feeds nocturnally, making dozens of small oval holes in the leaves from the underside. During the day the larva will rest under the leaf alongside a main vein. It pupates under a leaf often against a vein.
