Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies in the afternoon and evening and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The polyphagous larva spins the leaves of privets, Lilac, Ivy, honeysuckles, Hawthorn, apples, Hornbeam and other trees and shrubs. It overwinters part grown, in a spinning of dead leaves. It appears to prefer dead and withered leaves to eat, although it will take fresh ones. It pupates in its spinning.
