Similar species:

Forewing: 9 to 12mm

Habitats: Calcareous grassland, meadows, marshes, coastal sites, open woodland and moorlands.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk onwards and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Yellow Rattle, Common Cow-wheat or Lousewort and occasionally Goldenrod. It spins the flowers and seeds to the stem and feeds in the spinning. The full-fed larva overwinters in a semi-transparent cocoon on the ground and pupates in late April.
