Habitats: Reed-beds, marshes, fens, the margins of flooded gravel pits, ditches and river-banks.
Habits: The moth rests on reed stems during the day. It is nocturnal and come to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the rootstock and stem of Common Reed and Reed Sweet-grass often below the water line. The full-fed larva bores an exit hole for emergence above the water-line and then pupates in the stem just below the hole.
