Habits: The moth is nocturnal. It flies around the reeds and water for about an hour at dusk and again later in the night. It comes to light

Foodplant: The larva feeds in a leaf mine on the edge of a leaf of Reed Mace or rarely Lesser Reed Mace. It then burrows down into the base where it overwinters. In the spring it mines a dead leaf or stem before pupating in the mine. The larva is sometimes gregarious.
