Habitats: Larger reed-beds, broads, coastal reed-beds and flooded gravel pits.
Habits: The moth is nocturnal and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds within the young shoots of Common Reed and Reed Sweet-grass, sometimes below water. The larva travels to new stems by floating on a piece of reed stem. It pupates head up in a reed stem just below an exit hole previously bored by the larva.
