Forewing: M 22 to 26mm, F 26 to 31mm

Habitats: Heathland, moorland, downland, damp meadows, open woodland, coastal grassland and sand-dunes.

Habits: The male flies rapidly during the day in search of females and occasionally comes to light. The female flies from dusk and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Heather, Bramble, Bilberry, sallows, Creeping Willow, Meadowsweet, Salad Burnet and many other plants. It pupates in an elongated cocoon in the leaf litter or the base of a grass tussock.
