Similar species: Beech-green Carpet Colostygia olivata has a distinct white edge to the cross-band and is often a more warm yellowish green. The green only form of Red-green Carpet Chloroclysta siterata has less obvious whitish markings along each side of the forewing cross-band, although where the outer edge reaches the leading edge it is whiter. It also has a darker trailing edge to the band which often forms a black bar in the males.
Forewing: 15 to 17mm
Habitats: Mainly upland deciduous woodland, moorland scrub, hedgerows and gardens, but also in other well wooded areas.
Habits: The moth comes to Ivy blossom and sallow flowers. It also comes to light in small numbers.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on birches, sallows, Alder, limes, wild roses, Rowan and other deciduous trees. It pupates in the leaf litter.
