Similar species: Small Rivulet Perizoma alchemillata is smaller (9 to 11mm) and has a double indentation on the inside of the white band where the indentations are roughly equal in size. If a second indentation is present in Rivulet it is much smaller.
Forewing: 12 to 15mm
Habitats: Open woodland, hedgerows, road verges, vegetated coastal cliffs and calcareous downland scrub.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk and comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the flowers and seeds of Red Campion. It pupates under the soil.
