Forewing: 9 to 11mm
Habitats: Calcareous short-turfed downland, well used woodland rides, along limestone gravel paths and on wasteground. Occasionally on clay soils.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk and comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the ripening seeds in the flowers and seed capsules of Red Bartsia and sometimes eyebrights. It later feeds externally. It pupates under the soil, sometimes for several years.
