Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 13 to 15mm
Habitats: Calcareous downland scrub, coastal grassland scrub and open woodland.
Habits: The moth flies during the day especially in sunshine.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Wood Sage or occasionally White Dead-nettle, woundworts or Yellow Archangel. It pupates in the leaf litter or in loose soil.
