Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 18 to 21mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens.
Habits: The moth is occasionally found during the day on tree trunks and fences. It comes sparingly to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Wild Privet, Garden Privet, Lilac or Winter Jasmine and possibly Ash and birches which are accepted in captivity. It pupates in a cocoon on the foodplant.
