Similar species: Burnished Brass Diachrysia chrysitis has the brassy area in an "H" shape across the whole forewing.

Forewing: 20 to 24mm

Habitats: Damp open woodland, marshes, fens, river margins, coastal cliffs and undercliff.

Habits: The moth occasionally flies in sunshine. After dark it nectars at the flowers of Hemp Agrimony, Honeysuckle, Meadowseet and others. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds nocturnally on Hemp Agrimony. During the day it rests under a leaf. It is said that it has a preference for plants growing in the shade, although not exclusively. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon under a leaf.
