Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species (although similar European species exist).
Forewing: 17 to 20mm
Habitats: Open woodland, parks and gardens.
Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on garden Delphinium, Larkspur or Monk's-hood. It initially feeds in a web on the flowers and unripe seeds, then later on the leaves. When larger it rests under a leaf. In captivity it will accept Wormwood and Mugwort. It pupates in a yellow cocoon on the underside of a lower leaf.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Wormwood, Mugwort and Globe Flower.
