Similar species: This broad-winged, brown moth with grey cross-lines and two whitish spots to the outside of te kidney mark is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.

Forewing: 12 to 17mm

Habitats: This moth was first recorded in Britain on 3rd May 1958 at Bodinnick, Cornwall. In southern Spain it inhabits warm arid areas and ruderal sites, river-banks, road verges and other places where the foodplants are found.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. In southern Spain, the Canary Islands and further south the nocturnal larva feeds on Bear's Breeches, the alien and invasive Beggar's-ticks Bidens pilosa, Pot Marigold, Marsh Fleabane, Ageratum spp., Coreopsis spp. and other Asteraceae, hiding low on the plant during the day.
