Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 16 to 20mm
Habitats: In central and southern Europe it inhabits deciduous woodland and scrub on sunny slopes.
Habits: There has been just one British record of this moth at sugar from near Eastbourne, Sussex on 26th October 1895.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds on oaks and also Blackthorn, Hawthorn, sallows and poplars.
