Similar species: The narrow forewing with a long black basal streak and other black streaks separate this moth from all British and Irish species.
Forewing: 17 to 20mm
Habitats: Conifer plantations, parkland and gardens.
Habits: The moth comes to light, but rarely to sugar.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the flowers and young leaves of Monterey Cypress, Leyland Cypress, Lawson's Cypress, other cypresses or Common Juniper. It pupates in a soil-covered cocoon under the earth.
