Similar species: Nutmeg Anarta trifolii lacks the dark marbling in the central band and therefore has a more uniform look.
Forewing: 14 to 18mm
Habitats: A mainly central European montane and upland species above 200m. It is found from northern France in the west of its range and south to the mountains of southern Europe. It inhabitats grassy, rocky slopes often on limestone.
Habits: The moth comes to light. The first British record was at Lydd-on-Sea on the night of 7th July 2023.
Foodplant: The larva feeds nocturnally on Horseshoe Vetch and Crown Vetch. It pupates under the soil in a fragile cocoon.
