Immigrant

Similar species: This moth looks like a large yellowish Northern Rustic Standfussiana lucernea with a more prominent paler kidney mark and oval.

Forewing: 24 to 29mm

Habitats: High mountains in southern Europe. Alpine meadows at lower altitudes in north-east France and even lower on steep embankments and scree elsewhere.

Habits: One record at light on 15th July 1968 (after 2am) at Pulborough, Sussex.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the polyphagous larva has been recorded feeding nocturnally on Burdock, Butterbur, Colt's-foot, Clary, Greater Celandine, thistles, thyme, stitchworts, bedstraws and Harebell.
