Similar species: This moth is unlikely to be mistaken for any other British or Irish species.
Forewing: 15 to 17mm
Habitats: Higher mountain slopes and summits, although lower in the far north.
Habits: The moth occasionally flies in sunshine. It is attracted to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Crowberry and probably other unconfirmed montane species such as Bilberry, Cowberry and Mountain Azalea.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Heather, Bog Bilberry, Bearberry and Dwarf Birch.
