Similar species: The warm brown forewing markings and black-filled, scalloped outer cross-line with dark brown outer edge is enough to identify this moth.

Forewing: 7 to 10mm

Habitats: In southern Europe it inhabits rocky, grassland slopes.

Habits: The moths are often found on rocks during the day. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The early stage have not been recorded in Britain. In France and southern Europe the larva feeds on scabious, French Bartsia, germanders and other herbaceous plants. It pupates in a cocoon attached to a stem.
