Similar species: To be sure of the identification check the genitalia.

Forewing: 5 to 7.5mm

Habitats: Birch scrub on heathland and woodland.

Habits: The moth flies in sunshine. It occasionally comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva forms a mine at the edge of a birch leaf which widens into a blotch.
