Similar species:

Forewing: 2 to 2.5mm

Habitats: Open grassland on downland, sand-dunes and coastal grassland.

Habits:

Foodplant: The larva forms a long gallery mine in the bark of the stem of Common Bird's-foot Trefoil and possibly other trefoils. At first it mines down the stem, then up in an almost straight line (total length up to 9cm) or it may partly encircle the stem. The narrow straight-edged mine later becomes as wide as the stem.
