Habitats: Deciduous woodland, fens and marshes.
Habits: The moth can be beaten from the branches of the host tree.
Foodplant: The larva at first hollows the midrib of a leaf of Goat Willow or other species of willow. It later leaves the midrib and makes an adjacent triangular blotch with a double line of frass edging the passage from it. The larva can be found in fallen leaves with green 'islands'. It pupates in a cocoon in the leaf litter.
