08.002 Feathered Cutter Incurvaria masculella ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)
Common
Similar species: The male of Incurvaria oehlmanniella lacks the feathered antennae.
Forewing: 6 to 8mm
Habitats: It is possible to find this moth wherever the foodplants are present.
Habits: The moth flies in sunshine and comes to light.
Foodplant: Two or three larvae inhabit a leaf blotch mine on Hawthorn, roses, Sea Buckthorn and other plants in the rose family. The larvae later cut a case from the blotch and then descend to the ground to feed on fallen leaves. The full-fed larvae overwinter in a case where they pupate in the leaf litter in March.
