Habitats: Deciduous woodland, gardens and allotments.
Habits: The moth flies around the foodplant during the day, particularly in the late afternoon. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a Raspberry flower or occasionally Loganberry or other brambles. In late August it descends from the plant to hibernate in the soil. In April the larva feeds in a young, expanding shoot. Its presence is given away by withering leaves. It pupates in a shoot.
