10.005 Scarce Blackthorn Blotch-miner Coptotriche gaunacella (Duponchel, [1843])
Extinct
Similar species:
Forewing: 3 to 4mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, scrub and hedgerows.
Habits: Last recorded in Britain in 1902.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Blackthorn or Wild Cherry in a white, inflated, upper-surface blotch mine. The lining of silk contracts the mine pulling the leaf margins upwards. This partially hides the mine, in which it later pupates.
