Habitats: Deciduous woodland, downland and scrub, especially near the coast.
Habits: There is occasionally a second generation in July with adults in August.
Foodplant: A large whitish, inflated, upper-surface blotch mine on a rose which often occupies the entire leaf. A silk lining contracts the mine doubling the leaf along the midrib. It pupates in the mine.
