Habitats: Deciduous woodland.
Habits: The moth rests on tree trunks in the day and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in fungi such as King Alfred's Cakes Daldinia concentrica, Alder Bracket Xanthoporia radiata and Birch Polypore Fomitopsis betulina. Occasionally the larva feeds on dead wood and the callus tissue around tree wounds.
