Habitats: Deciduous woodland, especially if it contains old Hazel coppice.
Habits: The moth flies at dawn and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in Hazel Woodwart Hypoxylon fuscum or Beech Barkspot Diatrype disciformes on dead branches of Hazel. It lives in silk galleries covered in black and white frass running between the fruiting bodies of the fungus. It may also feed on fungus under the bark. Pupation takes place in a silk gallery on the bark or at the end of a bored area under the bark.
