Forewing: 4 to 8mm

Habitats: Where it can source the larval foodstuffs.

Habits: Has long been declining. Very few recent records in Britain and none in Ireland.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on feathers, wool and probably fur and dead insects. It is also recorded from bird's nests.
