Habitats: Downland, dry pasture, scrub, wasteland, coastal grassland and seawalls.
Habits: It has up to three overlapping broods.
Foodplant: The larva at first forms a gallery mine under a leaf of Common Restharrow, Spiny Restharrow, Red Clover or other clovers. It then eats through to the upper surface where it forms a flat blotch mine looking like those caused by fly larvae. It may move to a second leaf. It pupates under a white silk blanket usually on the upper leaf surface.
