Similar species:

Forewing: 4 to 5mm

Habitats: Cliffs and rocky coastal slopes.

Habits:

Foodplant: The larva forms a mine on Mountain Avens which is expanded to become a full depth blotch covering half the leaf on one side of the midrib. It later spins a leaf forming a pod closely resembling a mine. The full-fed larva overwinters in its cocoon spun under a leaf edge where it pupates in early spring.
