Similar species:
Forewing: 4 to 4.5mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, woodland margins and mature hedgerows with trees.
Habits: The moth rests on a tree trunk during the day.
Foodplant: A small mine on the underside of an oak leaf in the higher branches. It is located at the edge of a lobe which causes numerous creases on the lower surface and the lobe to fold over hiding the mine. It pupates loose in the mine.
