Similar species:

Forewing: 3.5 to 4mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, marshes, fens and river-banks.

Habits:

Foodplant: The larva forms a large mine from the midrib towards the margin between two veins on the underside of a willow leaf or near the distal margin crossing several veins and causing the leaf to fold over. There are usually a few longitudinal creases along the central area on the underside. It pupates in the mine in a large pale cocoon with frass stacked behind it.
