Habitats: Deciduous woodland, marshes, fen or wherever its foodplants are found.
Habits: This is an immigrant as well as a resident species.
Foodplant: The larva feeds gregariously in a web on the leaves of White Willow or occasionally Grey Willow, but usually in small numbers. It pupates in a cocoon either on the trunk or in the web.
