Habitats: Deciduous woodland, hedgerows, scrub or wherever else the foodplant is found.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva at first makes a white blotch mine on a leaf of Blackthorn. The frass from this mine is ejected. It later feeds gregariously with several other larvae in a thick web. Pupation takes place in the leaf litter in a dense white cocoon.
