Habits: The moth flies in morning and afternoon sunshine and comes to light before midnight.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from a frass covered silk tube on dead wood under the bark of many fallen and standing trees including oak, Hazel, Blackthorn and pear. It pupates in dead wood close to the feeding site.
