Similar species:

Forewing: 6 to 9mm

Habitats: Parks and gardens, amenity planting, coastal scrub and heathland.

Habits: The moth comes abundantly to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds from a frass covered silk tube in leaf litter below Eucalyptus trees in its native country. It has been recorded on Berberis spp. and London Plane in Britain and will probably feed on the leaf litter of a variety of species. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon within another tougher frass covered cocoon spun in the leaf litter.
